Westerstrand, Sweden – Gustavian style cartel wall clock – circa 1930–40 – carved and gilded wood – 8-day movement
Elegant Swedish cartel wall clock in Gustavian style, dating from the first half of the 20th century (circa 1930–40). Hand-carved wooden case, richly gilded, with a warm patina that gives it the character of an older piece. Ornate acanthus leaf motifs and an openwork crown display fine craftsmanship inspired by 18th-century Swedish neoclassicism.
Fitted with an 8-day movement striking a clear gong on the hour and half-hour. Recently serviced and in good working order. The dial with Roman numerals retains its vintage cream tone.
Good overall condition, with light signs of age that enhance its decorative appeal.
